The Hero's Journey
Project Description |
The Dream: |
First Step: Brainstorming
Once we received our section of the Odyssey or Hero's Journey that we would represent, it came down to brainstorming. We used this paper to complete our brainstorm idea.
|
Second Step: Drafting |
Third Step: Drawing on the backer board |
This step took some time. We had to practice drawing our image ideas a few times, on papers that got progressively larger - working towards our actual board sizes of 2'x1'
|
Fifth Step: GroutingGrout is a paste like substance that is used to fill in the cracks betweenn the tiles of the mosaic. The grout is what makes the tiles stay. While the grout is not completely dry, we use a damp sponge to get as muc of the grout off the tiles as possible, but we will make the tiles shine in our next step.
|
Probably the most tedious and yet one of the most satisfying steps - cutting tiles and then gluing the tiles onto our boards. This by far takes the longest to get done. Some people cut their tiles into random sizes while others keep them their original square shape. Each method has their own merits.
6th Step: A Vinegar CleanBy far the smelliest step, we use white distilled vinegar in order to bring the shine back to the tiles.
